Seek Me

Jeremiah 29:13 If you look for me in earnest, you will find me when you seek me. I will be found by you, "Says the Lord. "I will end your captivity and restore your fortunes.

What does it look like to seek the Lord? 

How do we physically apply that to our daily lives?

For me growing up with Mental illness in my home affected the way I view the world. There was always a lot of chaos and confusion and hardly any communication.

I love this verse because it ends with a promise. "I will end your captivity and restore your fortunes.

Who does not want an area of their life restored, right?
I know I do!!

Not all parts of our lives are perfect, we live in a broken world. I don't know what your circumstance was or is but we all need hope. I know for myself, due to the effects of my Mom's Illness, I had a lot of broken dreams, disappointments and pain along the way.  At times, it affects my family life! Your struggle may be different than mine but..

 I know he is continuously restoring my life,
buffing out the gem from the rubble of chaos that I lived in.

I need this promise!!

So what must we do?



So how do we earnestly seek the Lord?

In the Dictionary.reference.com earnest means: serious in intention, purpose, showing depth. 

Seeking the Lord means for us to put effort, purpose, sincerity into our relationship with Him. Building a relationship with the Lord by studying his word by spending time with him and learning what his will is for your life. When we do, there is a promise, a reward and something to focus your hope on. That he will end your captivity and restore your fortunes. Finally rest assure with this:

If you look for me in earnest,
you will find me when you seek me.
I will be found by you" Says the Lord.
Jeremiah 29:13

I end this with a prayer,

Lord, I pray today
 that who ever is reading this,
 that they will find hope in your word and in your promise,
no matter what their circumstance is.

Help us Lord to seek you daily,
with purpose and sincerity of heart.

Give us courage to seek you,
 even when we have failed and fallen short.

Remind us how deep is your love for us

and
that we are made righteous through the cross 

Help us to present to you daily our relationships, circumstances
and challenges that are close to our hearts,

To lay them by your feet and trust that you care.

Help us to hold on to your word and to keep your promise hidden in our hearts,
 We trust that when we seek you, we will be found by you!
